Members of the cow-calf and feedlot sectors are reminded that certain data is required to participate in BIXS as the launch to industry approaches.
For cow-calf producers, this data includes CCIA tag numbers and birthdates, represented either as a calving start date or actual birth date. At the feedlot, the individual animal CCIA tag number must be linked to the arrival date and weight at the feedlot, the latter of which can be a grouped average.
Additionally, there is a considerable amount of optional data and information cow-calf and feedlot participants can collect and upload to BIXS once the system is fully open to them. Those who intend to enrol in BIXS this fall must ensure all required information is linked to the individual animal CCIA tag number in their records.
Cow-calf producers don’t need to be in possession of their animals at the time of BIXS registration and data submission. They simply collect the required information and relevant optional data to be submitted to BIXS before marketing their cattle and ensure it is safely stored in an on-farm record-keeping system.
